My dear group, thank you for your great essays and fabulous drawings. Nastia, as I’ve told you, writing is your cup of tea and everything is good with your spatial orientation. Olichka, having the soul, your essay has few mistakes as well. Nazar, Vincent Van Gogh’s words are for you: “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”
You are great 🙂
There are a lot of beautiful buildings and ideas of them in the world: big and small, made of wood, glass, brick or other materials. We can admire them. However, for each of us there is only one where we feel ourselves more comfortable, like at home.
I’ve always admired the houses with big windows of glass, rising above the mountains, and you’ve got the feeling of a flying bird being bewitched by the stars. Also, it takes my breath away when I see a small beautiful house on the shore of the sea or surrounded by the forest. I can’t decide which building I like more. But now I am dreaming to be in the house with a beautiful landscape behind the window (like Iceland houses on the shore of the ocean, at the same time being located in a forest). There I could wake up with a cup of coffee in the morning and look at the magnificent nature, breathe cool fresh air and enjoy the calm.
Every city, like a person, has its own story and its own soul.
Lviv is a beautiful city steeped in legends. As for me, it’s kind of a European city with narrow medieval streets, cobblestone roads, welcoming cafes with terraces and ornate architectural decoration done in different styles. But I don’t like only to look at the city architecture just for defining the styles (Renaissance, Gothic or Baroque).
I believe, that every building can tell us more than just architecture style. And when you look at different houses you can imagine people, who lived here many years ago, imagine the stories of their lives. I think, that your own house is representation of your soul and your personality. And every tiny person, like a drop in the ocean, creates history of all the town. So let’s do wonders together.
The Building I Admire
You can see an imposing skyscraper in the picture. It`s situated in Manhattan, New York City. Its name is The Empire State Building. It`s the one of the most known landmarks of New York City. That 103-story building was the tallest in the world from 1931 to 1970.
It rises to 443 m in height from ground to the peak of its antenna spire. The Empire State Building was built in Art Deco style. Strict lines, opulence, contemporary materials are the peculiar features of this style. It seems to be a spear on the one hand but on the other hand it seems to be the stairs to the heaven.
I adore The Empire State Building because it is the symbol of the USA for me. I’ve always seen it in the Americans movies. I remember when I saw it at the first time.
That amazing creature was climbing on it.
In 1964 floodlights were added to illuminate the top of the building at night. The colors depend on a season and holidays, such as St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, Independence Day. After the death of actress Fay Wray (King Kong) in 2004, the building stood in complete darkness for 15 minutes.
I would like to have the building like this one in our country.
